A tempestuous hype pre-empts an Aamir Khan venture. Satyamev Jayate - is confirmation that this intelligent actor, producer and director is moving in the right direction. He has set forth with a substantial undertaking meant to devolve the myth that is India and the stigmas that are encrusted within the myth. This is common for countries across the world all have prevalent stigmas and societal issues. The Indian population weighs in at 1.21 billion, it is the most populous democracy in the world, and has the second largest world populace. It is distinctly diverse with an array of 22 different languages. 41.6% of it’s population lives below the poverty line. Aamir addressed the issue of delivering his show to this audience by having it relayed via both the Paid cable network Star Plus and also through the National broadcaster Doordarshan' s DD National TV Network. He accessed the exclusivity of Private Cable with the Star Network and also addressed the issue of accessing the larger general population with the broad. Large arm of national coverage -Doordarshan. The show has also been dubbed in various regional languages to make it more relevant to the diverse regions of the country.
I am watching the first episode as I write - The entire episode is based on Female feticide a prevalent issue inIndia which Aamir has taunted to raise it' s ugly head in public. A myth prevails that this is relegated mostly to the rural areas. It is further compounded by illiteracy. Aamir tries to dispel the notion of rural concentricity with simple statistics projected in a manner understandable to the common man and accompanied by data projections that can be understood by everyone. He has addressed this issue with relevant interviews with journalists who have worked undercover to bring to light the depth of this malignant issue, mothers who have faced prosecution physical and mental abuse from their spouses family, bachelors in Indian cities where the population of Women has dropped drastically and left them in a state of flux,
He not only discourses the topic, but works with the audience to try and better the system.

"Impact
On the next day after the episode went on air, Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot urged the public representatives and other non-governmental organisations to take actions to stop illegal practice of female feticide. An official reported that Gehlot also reviewed existing efforts taken by government against the issue. He also directed the officials to prepare a plan for a special campaign against female foeticide. Aamir Khan, as promised on the show, met Ashok Gehlot over the issue of female feticide. Gehlot accepted his request to set up fast track court to deal the case of sting operation featured on the show, which was conducted in 2005 by Meena Sharma and Shripal Shaktawat. The sting operation had revealed faces of more than 140 doctors involved in illegal practise of sex determination test and abortion. But no one were punished in the case even after seven years."
I went on-line and there were a lot of positive comments but there was a question that upset me, would the show fizzle out in the second episode.
He has attacked one of the social diseases that ails Indian society, the Sordid act of Female feticide secreted around in society' s folds forever. He has illuminated it for all to see here is an issue, we can address it. I hope he does more he has the potential to aid good reform but my question to you people who keep wishing that another soul can bring relevant change to our issues is this. By starting a show such as this has he not already set wheels in motion. I believe his impact and that of the show even if it is just one episode is hugely positive it has already instructed, advised and sought positive change.
I for one am enlightened.
Lets work with that.
